Project by DynusT: WISE
What is WISE?
The Work Zone Impact and Strategy Estimator (WISE) software can evaluate the impact of multiple projects that have been incorporated into the Transportation Im- provement Program (TIP) and the network. The WISE tool is intended to be a decision support system to be used by planners and engineers to evaluate the impact of work zones and determine strategies to reduce these impacts. The software has been devel- oped so that the level of effort in conducting analysis is minimal.
WISE is envisioned to be used by ag...Continue Reading
PROJECT BY DYNUST: VASTO
Existing traffic analysis tools such as microscopic traffic simulation models and macroscopic/static travel demand forecasting methods have inherent methodological limits and, as a results, fall short in providing adequate modeling capability when faced with the ever-increasing complexity of today’s transportation systems. In the meanwhile, computational and algorithmic innovation in other areas offers a promising opportunity, once incorporated, to leapfrog from existing analysis capabilities. The over-arching objective of this research is to develop a theoretically sound, behaviorally ...Continue Reading

Project by DynusT: SHRP2 ProjectC10B
Project C10B developed an integrated, advanced travel demand model with a fine-grained time-sensitive network simulation for the Sacramento, California, region. Project C10B developed a methodology to reflect changes in the nature of demand, mode choice (including “new modes” such as work or shopping at home and nonmotorized travel), destination choice, timing, and route of travel as a response to transit service, highway network congestion, roadway management strategies, road pricing, parking policies, and other public policies aimed at reducing congestion. This was achieved by integra...Continue Reading
Project by DynusT: SHRP2 ProjectR11
This project brief explores the software tool, the Work Zone Impacts and Strategies Estimator (WISE). WISE is designed to assist program managers in sequencing programs of projects. In addition, it is designed to help planners and engineers evaluate the impacts of work zones to determine strategies to reduce these impacts. The operations module uses DynusT to provide its main functionality. The concept behind the operations module is to dive deeper into the granularity of the time varying interactions occurring between traffic and the network during a work zone project. What a static model...Continue Reading
